01. One For Sight / One For Sound
A fantastic single from the playful post-hardcore band, Roanoke. 'One For Sight / One For Sound' swings between heavy, rhythmical passages, the pounding of their instruments completely syncronised, and then dreamier sections, with broad, echoing guitars free to sail off in the background, only occasionally letting the rhythm section reign them in. Roanoke seamlessly and conifdently switch between these two modes, switching around arrangements - such as the alien lo-fi ambient effects at 1:50 - as they please. Add in cleverly written lyrics, neither short on emotion nor power. It's effective, it's startling, and it's a very good single.
