CityCop are a four piece band from Ohio who play an amazing style of music that incorporates a variety of sounds ranging from chaotic screamo, epic/melodic post-hardcore with flourishes of melody, hints of indie rock, and a bit of math-rock thrown in for good measure. Vocals range from gutwrenching screaming to softly spoken/whispered vocals, to melodic and at times urgent sounding vocals. The second band on the split is Les Doux. Les Doux are a Hattiesburg, MS based band who play an emotive and epic style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, and post-hardcore. Les Doux's sound falls into the same camp as bands such as La Dispute, Weak Teeth, Defeater, and Pianos Become The Teeth. The band accomplishes this sound with ease and without coming off as sounding overly contrived or derivative of the bands listed above. Each band contributes three songs a piece on this cassette. Overall, this is a killer split and both bands compliment each other well on this record. Look for this cassette in early 2013.
