Arktika is a band from Cologne, Germany, who formed in 2008. Arktika play an epic and heavy style of music that incorporates elements of post hardcore, post-rock, and screamo into the band's sound. Symmetry is the band's latest five song LP, which is set to be released via Narshardaa records on August 2nd. At first listen, I must say I was taken aback at how the band's sound has changed since their last LP. Arktika has taken a more melodic approach this time out and the end result is impressive. Arktika have added a 90's emotive slant to their sound, which provides a refreshing change of pace for this type of sound. The best description I could come up with here is that the band takes the melodic stylings of bands such as Daitro or Suis La Lune and have paired that sound with the darker and heavier stylings of bands such as Titan or other similar dark sounding German hardcore bands. Overall, Symmetry makes for a great listen. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
